Nagomi no Komeya, with its main store in Narita City, Chiba Prefecture, began in 1899 (Meiji 32) when it created what is said to be Japan's first chestnut yokan and sold it as a souvenir for visitors to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. Today, the shop offers a wide variety of seasonal Japanese sweets, including yokan, dorayaki, and daifuku, and is cherished by locals and visitors to Chiba Prefecture. Among these, their "Peanut Monaka," launched in connection with Chiba's specialty peanuts, is widely enjoyed as a representative confectionery of Chiba Prefecture.
