Overview Vodafone Ireland has announced a further investment of €360 million to strengthen its long-term commitment to Ireland. The company is in the final stages of preparations to move its headquarters to a new location in St Stephen’s Green, Dublin.

Investment Details This investment expands upon the €500 million five-year network investment plan announced in 2023. It includes €200 million dedicated to mobile network infrastructure and €160 million to be invested in digital and IT capabilities through 2030.

New Headquarters and Sustainability The company has signed a 15-year lease for a 63,000 sq ft, six-story Grade A office building. The new office incorporates sustainable features including a green roof to support biodiversity, a rainwater harvesting system, and on-site solar power (PV) generation. The move is expected to contribute to Vodafone Ireland's goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2028, with improved access to public transport to reduce indirect emissions. The company will continue its hybrid work model, with over 850 employees to be based at the new site, out of a total national workforce of over 2,000.

Network and Technological Advancements The €200 million network investment aims to build a smarter, more flexible infrastructure ready for next-generation 5G. This will enable high-speed, reliable connectivity to support AI, IoT, and smart city applications. Furthermore, the network will be upgraded to manage complex traffic patterns better, supporting future tech such as satellite-enabled mobile services.

Digital Transformation Up to €160 million will be invested over the next four years in digital and IT systems, including the development of next-generation customer platforms like the digital care assistant 'Tobi' and upgrades to critical infrastructure to boost digital transformation efforts.

25 Years of Investment Celebrating its 25th anniversary in Ireland, Vodafone has invested over €20 billion in current value terms since 2001. This includes €5.8 billion in capital expenditure and €6.3 billion paid in spectrum license fees and taxes. Additionally, the company has invested €24 million in community support and digital inclusion initiatives.

Industry Recognition Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Simon Harris, welcomed the announcement, highlighting its importance for national competitiveness. IDA Ireland CEO Michael Lohan also emphasized that robust networks are essential for productivity and attracting foreign direct investment.
