In 1998 (Heisei 10), Subaru launched the special road-going model 'Impreza 22B STi Version' to celebrate its third consecutive WRC (World Rally Championship) title. It featured the specially developed 2.2-liter 'EJ22 Revised' engine. With 17-inch BBS alloy wheels and Pirelli P-ZERO tires housed in glamorous blister fenders, and Bilstein inverted suspension, every component was specially engineered to embody the pure rally racing spirit of WRC. The 400 units, nearly hand-built, sold out instantly—a legend still celebrated today.

The 1/8-scale model in this series meticulously reproduces Subaru's unique boxer engine, suspension, and differential systems. The design pays close attention to interior details and body lines. Once completed, a key-insert controller allows you to enjoy powerful engine sounds and lighting effects such as turning lights on and off. We want you to experience the essence of the '22B,' hailed as the ultimate Impreza.

The 'Impreza WRC '97' that competed in the 1997 WRC Monte Carlo Rally was the WR car that formed the basis of the 22B. Starting with this victory, Subaru won 8 out of 14 races, achieving Japan's first-ever three consecutive WRC championships as a Japanese manufacturer.

For the development and design of the model in this series, we received full cooperation from Subaru Corporation and conducted a thorough investigation of the serial number '000/000' pre-production prototype displayed at the STI Gallery Mitaka. The result is a meticulously crafted scale model aiming for complete detail reproduction.

The model featured in this magazine recreates the 22B displayed at the STI Gallery Mitaka at 1/8 scale. As exhibits are rotated, please check the website in advance before visiting. The 3D-CAD model is built from real vehicle scan data. Even the tiniest engine bay components are individually designed from this data.

Ignition sound plays via a key cylinder mechanism!

A dedicated controller allows you to enjoy various gimmicks via button operation. You can turn lights on and off just like the real car, and play engine sounds and horn recorded from the actual vehicle. (Built during the assembly process)

Insert and turn the key to play the ignition sound. The top-left button lets you enjoy the engine sound while driving.

Headlights can switch between high and low beams. Position lights can be individually turned on/off, just like the real car. Turn signals flash in sync across front, rear, and side indicators with relay sound. Hazard mode is also replicated. Photo shows rear brake lights illuminated. Tail lights, sidelights, and white reverse lights can all be individually turned on/off.

The dashboard's four-gauge panel lights up in sync with the controller's lighting gimmicks. The center of the MOMO steering wheel, exuding a racing feel, features a cherry-red 'STI' logo. The map lamp beside the rearview mirror and the ceiling interior light can be turned on/off via the controller's buttons.

Authenticity befitting the prestige of the limited '22B'. Packed with details that even Subaru enthusiasts will appreciate!

Left and right side windows can be opened and closed via a dial located under the doors. The rear trunk opens and closes. A switch allows you to turn on the trunk compartment light.

High-quality bucket seats with the STI logo. Front seats feature reclining and sliding mechanisms. Three areas, including the dashboard box in front of the passenger seat, are openable. Details made possible by the large-scale model.

The shape of the 'aero mirrors' unique to the '22B' is another point of focus. They can be folded down just like the real car. The large rear spoiler inherits the shape of the WRC '97 base car. The top wing can be adjusted to two different angles.

The grille that defines the 22B's face uses a delicate metal mesh. The Sonic Blue Mica paint contrasts beautifully with the cherry-red emblem. The front and rear blister fender shapes strongly reflect the image of a WR car. The real car's glamorous handmade form is faithfully reproduced.

Suspension and drivetrain mechanisms unique to the Impreza are also precisely reproduced. The under cover is pre-painted. Finely detailed instrument panels and switches. The 22B's unique leather-wrapped shift knob has a dignified finish.

The gold-shining BBS forged wheels are an essential item for the 22B. The wheel caps feature dual branding of STI and BBS. The fuel filler cap is openable. The internal fuel cap and caution sticker on the inside of the cap are carefully reproduced.

The rear underbody. Differential mechanisms and driveshaft structure are reproduced just like the real car. The STI logo is a badge of pride. The shining '22B' ornament is a dream for Impreza owners and Subaru fans.
