Structural Challenges: Lack of Local Tax Accountants for Local Business Owners
According to the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, 99.7% of Japanese SMEs are dispersed throughout the country. However, tax accounting firms that actively provide information online are concentrated in urban areas, making it difficult for local business owners to find a 'tax accountant they can trust and consult with locally.'
It has been about a year since the launch of our tax accountant referral service, 'Yoi Zeirishi.' Through direct interviews conducted by our editorial team, we have featured over 82 firms across 26 prefectures, and we receive numerous inquiries every month from business owners, sole proprietors, and individuals asking for tax accountant referrals.
Currently, we have partnerships with main offices in only 18 prefectures. In the remaining 29 prefectures, we often face lost opportunities due to the lack of local partner tax accountants. Even with the ongoing shift toward digital operations, there is a strong need to meet 'good tax accountants' in one's local area, and establishing a system to bridge this regional gap is an urgent task.
To resolve this gap by the end of March 2027 and build a system capable of responding to referral requests in all 47 prefectures, we are launching the '47-Prefecture Nationwide Referral System Project.'
