Former Architectural Designer and Embroidery Artist Opens 'Stillsew' Atelier & Shop in Kurihara, Miyagi

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the atelier and shop 'Stillsew' will open on the first floor of 'kusabi' (34 Muikamachi, Kurikoma Iwagasaki, Kurihara City, Miyagi Prefecture), a multi-purpose facility operated by Studio Tripatch LLC.

'Stillsew' is an atelier and shop where Mariko Shibazaki, an embroidery artist and illustrator who moved from Yokohama to Kurihara in 2024, creates and sells her original embroidered works and illustrations. After exhibiting her work in Koenji, Tokyo, and Kamakura, Kanagawa, this marks her first independent store. At the opening, approximately 30 items, including hand-embroidered apparel, will be available.

Leveraging her previous experience at an architectural design firm, Shibazaki designed the shop's interior herself. The space combines solid materials like concrete floors and a new counter with the warmth of wood and lighting, creating an elegant environment for customers.
