Star Resort Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture; President & CEO: Yuuya Sasaki), which creates destination resorts on beautiful lands across the globe, announces the takeover of 'Namyu the Place,' a small luxury hotel located on Miyako Island, Okinawa Prefecture, in 2026, launching a value-enhancement project. A rebranded opening is scheduled for autumn 2026, marking the company’s fifth hotel value-up project. Architectural design will be handled by HOKULEA Co., Ltd., a first-class architectural firm within the company’s group.
About Namyu the Place
Namyu the Place is a small luxury hotel situated on a 40-meter-high cliff in Shiroji, southeastern Miyako Island, featuring only five villas. From every room, guests enjoy panoramic views of the vast Miyako Blue ocean, with virtually nothing in sight except the sky and sea. Each villa offers approximately 60㎡ of guest room space, a private terrace of about 52㎡, and an infinity pool seamlessly blending with the ocean. The design centers the guest experience around 'time spent with the scenery.' Since opening in 2021, it has received high acclaim from domestic and international guests, ranking No. 1 nationwide on Ikyu.com’s guest review rankings in 2025.

Background of the Takeover of Namyu the Place
The company has previously undertaken hotel value-up projects in adjacent areas of Miyako Island and Irabu Island. JIVANA Miyakojima, taken over in 2024, had an average daily rate (ADR) of about ¥18,000 and low occupancy at the time of takeover. After restructuring operations and design, by its second year of operation, occupancy exceeded 90%, and the suite villa ADR surpassed ¥110,000 annually. In 2025, the company took over operations of Konpeki Miyakojima on Irabu Island, launching a value-up project toward rebranding and reopening. On remote islands, the natural scenery and views directly define a resort’s value. We believe islands like Miyako Island are among the most promising locations for creating our vision of 'destination resorts.'
Namyu the Place has earned high praise from guests worldwide for its location on a 40-meter cliff overlooking the sea and its five villas, each offering panoramic ocean views. In 2025, it ranked No. 1 on Ikyu.com’s nationwide guest review rankings, with room rates (ADR) consistently exceeding ¥200,000. However, due to increasingly competitive hiring conditions in Miyako Island, difficulties in securing stable operations have led to recent occupancy rates remaining low, in the 30% range.
The property’s product quality and location are among the best in Okinawa Prefecture. Since launching its hotel business in 2020, the company has accumulated expertise in operations, talent management, and brand revitalization, and we are confident in our ability to enhance the value of this facility.
Tourism in Miyako Island continues to break records. In fiscal 2025 (Reiwa 7), the number of inbound tourists reached 1,263,397, surpassing the previous year and setting a new record (※1). New direct flights from Taiwan to Shimoji Island Airport, combined with routes from Korea and Hong Kong, are driving record-breaking numbers of international visitors. Additionally, Rosewood Miyakojima opened in 2025, and Canopy by Hilton is scheduled to open in spring 2026, indicating continued entry of international luxury brands. With the market expanding and luxury demand rising, we determined that accelerating our expansion strategy in Miyako Island at this moment is optimal.
Comment from Yuuya Sasaki, President & CEO, Star Resort Co., Ltd.
Having lived in Okinawa for 10 years and visited numerous sites, the land where Namyu stands possesses the most magnificent view among them all. It is truly a land that moves the soul and stirs the heart. We are deeply honored to have the opportunity to create a new resort on this land and to receive such support.
In 2026, we plan to rebrand and reopen under a new brand. Namyu was a representative small luxury hotel of Miyako Island. We will inherit that spirit and elevate this brand to represent not only Miyako Island and Okinawa, but all of Japan. We aim to become a presence that enriches the natural environment of this land and strengthens the local economy. We will strive to achieve this vision.
Comment from Tatsunari Miki, Representative Director, Miki Resort Co., Ltd.
We are pleased to announce that our operated property, 'Namyu the Place,' will be transferred to Star Resort Co., Ltd.
At a time when we were contemplating future operations and further value enhancement of the hotel, we had the opportunity to meet and speak with President Sasaki. We became convinced that Star Resort Co., Ltd., under President Sasaki’s leadership, could further elevate the Namyu brand we have built from the ground up, leading us to decide on this transfer.
Personally, I feel a sense of loss in handing over a hotel I built from scratch, but more than that, I am filled with excitement for Namyu’s future.
Lastly, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported this hotel thus far.
We kindly ask for your continued patronage and support.
