Sony Life Commences 10 Billion Yen Impact Investment in Japanese Equities

Sony Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Hiroyuki Tsubota, hereinafter "Sony Life") has announced the commencement of investment in an impact investment fund targeting domestic listed stocks as part of its efforts toward achieving a sustainable society.

Impact investing is an investment intended to generate positive social and environmental changes (impact) alongside financial returns by addressing societal and environmental challenges.

This impact investment fund aims to realize a society where "everyone can live with purpose and draw a lifestyle that suits them," based on Sony Life's vision of "protecting the 'purpose in life' of our customers." To achieve this, the company identifies structural factors—such as illness, childcare, regional environment, and educational settings—that limit the important choices in life for the generation creating the future as social issues that need to be addressed.

In this investment scheme, Sony Life acts as the asset owner. Under the investment advice of Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation (President: Hiroshi Kubota), Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management Co., Ltd. (President: Yutaka Kawakami) will manage the fund as the asset manager. Through an investment totaling 10 billion yen in domestic listed stocks, the company aims to contribute to solving these social issues and achieving its vision.
