The General Incorporated Association, Market School, held a final activity report meeting for market stakeholders on Saturday, March 21. Market School is a project to convey the original role and charm of the market. This initiative is part of the Nippon Foundation's "Ocean and Japanese Project," which connects people through the sea to pass on a rich and beautiful ocean to the next generation.

What is "Market School" activity?

*This press release is based on the original text written by high school students, with additions and modifications.

Market School is a project that collaborates with high school students and the wholesale fish stalls at the Yokohama Central Wholesale Market to convey the original role and charm of the market. While learning about the market, high school students challenge themselves with activities such as "PR activities," "product development," and "event planning," aiming to communicate this to many people. Through these activities, they strive to widely promote fresh fish and the unique vitality of the market, while also creating opportunities for people who do not usually visit markets, as well as restaurant business operators, to visit and conduct transactions. Utilizing the flexible ideas and drive of the younger generation, they are opening up new possibilities to connect the community and the market, and disseminate the market's appeal. In this release, we bring you reports from participating members.

In the previous mid-term presentation, we had too much information crammed into the slides, making them difficult to read. To improve this, I focused on extracting the important parts and making them larger and easier to see. As a result, I was able to make eye contact with the attendees while presenting, rather than staring at the slides, so I believe the presentation itself went better than the previous one.

I reported on the services (Fish Idea Club) and PR. During the Q&A session, I received several suggestions such as "Why don't you try this for PR activities?", which I found very helpful as they offered perspectives we couldn't find on our own. It was also truly gratifying to hear from fish wholesalers, city council members, and other market stakeholders that our activities are meaningful.

Although I was in charge of PR myself, this year I also participated in service and product development activities beyond that scope. I was able to share the knowledge gained from these experiences, and even things that seemed unrelated to "Market School" at first glance, with many people at this final presentation.

Following the mid-term presentation, I am filled with gratitude for being provided with such a valuable opportunity and for the attendance of so many people. Truly...
