Zoetis Japan, a global leader in animal health, has launched 'Alphaject Micro 4', an inactivated vaccine for rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon. Developed by PHARMAQ, a Zoetis group company with extensive experience in salmon farming, the vaccine is now available in Japan. As Japan relies heavily on imported salmon, the Fisheries Agency aims to double domestic production by 2030. This product is the first in Japan to prevent three diseases—furunculosis, vibriosis, and cold-water vibriosis—with a single dose. Administered via a 0.05mL intraperitoneal injection, it provides immunity for one year. By shifting from treatment to proactive prevention, the vaccine is expected to support the future of Japan's aquaculture industry.
