Bell Energy and Komatsu Expand Charging Demonstrations for Electric Construction Machinery

Bell Energy and Komatsu have conducted charging demonstrations for battery-powered electric hydraulic excavators using Bell Energy's mobile power supply vehicle, 'MESTA Gen.' Through this validation, the companies confirmed that MESTA Gen can charge six models of battery-powered electric hydraulic excavators certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) as 'GX Construction Machinery.'

### Challenges and Solutions in Electric Machinery Usage

Construction sites are increasingly adopting electric machinery to achieve carbon neutrality. While these machines offer emission-free operation and low noise, ensuring stable and flexible power sources at remote outdoor job sites has been a challenge.

Since December 2024, the two companies have been testing MESTA Gen with small electric excavators and confirmed its efficiency. In the latest demonstration, they successfully verified that the system can also charge medium-sized electric excavators (13-ton and 20-ton classes) without errors.

### Advantages of MESTA Gen

MESTA Gen is a zero-emission power vehicle based on the Nissan Leaf. It can be driven with a standard driver's license and performs power transport and charging without generating exhaust emissions or noise. This supports operations in sites with power constraints.

Moving forward, Bell Energy and Komatsu aim to accelerate the adoption of power supply solutions for electric construction machinery, strengthening their contribution to carbon neutrality at construction sites.
