65th Anniversary Commemorative Project: History Panel Exhibition at Yokohama Marine Tower

Yokohama Marine Tower, operated by a joint venture led by List Properties Co., Ltd. (part of the List Group), has installed history panels in its 2nd-floor community lounge with the supervision and cooperation of the Yokohama Archives of History and the Yokohama City Archives, managed by the Yokohama City Furusato History Foundation. The newly installed panels introduce the history of Yokohama, utilizing the view from the observation deck, covering topics such as the tower's former role as a lighthouse, Commodore Perry's landing at the end of the Edo period, and Yokohama as the birthplace of many modern Japanese industries. We invite visitors to enjoy these panels while touring historical spots like Yamashita Park, Yokohama Chinatown, and Motomachi Shopping Street. Yokohama Marine Tower opened in 1961 as a lighthouse illuminating Yokohama Port, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the port's opening. At 106 meters tall, it was the world's tallest lighthouse at the time, offering panoramic views of the port. It concluded its role as a lighthouse after 50 years in 2008. Today, it continues to serve as a symbol that allows people to overlook the cityscape of Yokohama, the starting point of modern Japanese history, conveying its new charm.
