Watami Organic Land Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Watami Co., Ltd., hosted its 5th anniversary commemorative event on April 29, 2026. Despite light rain, the event attracted over 500 visitors, with pre-booked programs like the "Hot Air Balloon Ride" reaching full capacity.
The event was organized to express gratitude to customers and local residents for their support over the past five years. At the "Commemorative Ceremony," Mayor Sasaki of Rikuzentakata gave an address. Visitors enjoyed programs such as rice cake tossing, traditional "Hikami Taiko" drumming, and over 20 food and experience booths.
Watami has been building relationships with Rikuzentakata since the immediate aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Ten years later, on April 29, 2021, the facility was opened with the desire to be a place where "everyone who visits can create enjoyable memories." The company remains committed to promoting the appeal of Rikuzentakata and Iwate Prefecture.
"Rikuzentakata Watami Organic Land" is an agricultural theme park themed around an organic, circular society. In cooperation with Rikuzentakata, it features farms, ranches, and power generation facilities on a vast site. There are plans to expand facilities over the next 20 years to embody the circular 6th-sector industrial model.
