Free 'Running Class' for 1st to 3rd Graders in Yokosuka City to be Held on June 13, 2026

General Incorporated Association Sports & Wellbeing Promotion Association (Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director: Shigeki Horie) will hold a free 'Running Class' for first to third-grade elementary school students living in Yokosuka City at the Kanagawa Eisei Gakuen Vocational School Gymnasium on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

This event is a community-participatory experience class aimed at creating opportunities for children to feel that 'running is fun' and 'moving the body is interesting.'

The event is co-sponsored by Life Plus Co., Ltd., which operates the Acupuncture and Osteopathic Clinic Himawari Group in Yokosuka City. Judo therapist staff from the group, which has been engaged in community health support, will also participate as support instructors to help children move their bodies safely and enjoyably.

The event is supported by Yokosuka City and the Yokosuka City Board of Education.

A Community-Participatory Class enjoyable for kids who love running and those who don't

In recent years, the decline in children's outdoor play and exercise opportunities has increasingly been discussed as an issue.

Experiences that make children feel 'moving is fun' are important opportunities that lead to self-esteem and a spirit of challenge, not only for kids who excel at sports but also for those who feel intimidated by running.

The Sports & Wellbeing Promotion Association aims to support the healthy growth of children, build community connections, and create spaces for multi-generational interaction through sports and experiential activities.

In this running class, the goal is not just to run fast, but to teach children in a fun and easy-to-understand way about running posture, arm swing, starting techniques, and how to use their bodies.

Many children participated happily last time

During the previous event, children experienced the joy of running and working together with peers while moving their bodies in the gymnasium. This time as well, while ensuring safety, we aim for a time where children can participate positively.

Instruction by a Professional Trainer with Olympic Athlete Support Experience

On the day, we will welcome professional trainer Keita Sato, who has experience supporting Olympic athletes, as the main instructor.

While communicating specialized knowledge in a way children can understand, the class aims to reduce hesitation towards running and help them feel the joy of physical movement.

In addition, judo therapist staff from the co-sponsor, Life Plus Co., Ltd. Himawari Group, will participate as support instructors.

Professionals who regularly support body usage related to pain, injuries, and sports will back up the event while paying close attention to the children's safety.

Instructors

Main Instructor: Keita Sato A professional trainer with experience supporting Olympic athletes. He will teach children the tricks of running and body mechanics in an easy-to-understand manner.

Support Instructors: Judo therapist staff from Life Plus Co., Ltd. Himawari Group They will support from a professional perspective so that children can move safely and enjoyably.
