Space Koshien Rocket Division 2026 Fukuoka Pre-Workshop to Be Held in Kitakyushu on July 5

Kyushu Mirai Kyoso supports Kyushu Institute of Technology in hosting the 'Space Koshien Rocket Division 2026 Fukuoka Tournament Pre-Workshop' at the Tobata Campus on July 5, 2026. Under the guidance of astronaut Naoko Yamazaki and Prof. Shinsuke Akiyama, the event fosters next-generation space talent in collaboration with Kitakyushu City.

The workshop prepares junior high, high school, and Kosen students from Fukuoka and nearby prefectures for the upcoming autumn tournament. Participants will build and launch A-class model rockets and learn design using 'Open Rocket Simulator' to qualify for a Class 4 model rocket license. Space Koshien challenge teams to design, build, launch, and verify model rockets carrying eggs, competing on altitude and flight duration. It bridges science/math with manufacturing to build problem-solving and project management skills.
