The General Incorporated Association Accounting Firm Alliance (Chairman: Hiroshi Hongo, Secretariat Location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as "Kaiho Ren") is pleased to announce that its member firms have expanded to a total of 63 corporations.

With this expansion, the total number of employees in accounting firms affiliated with Kaiho Ren now exceeds 19,000, and the total number of clients supported by each firm has surpassed 160,000.

In recent years, as the management challenges faced by Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have become more complex, Kaiho Ren aims to enhance the value of accounting firms as a social infrastructure supporting SME management and providing comprehensive business support. This is achieved by sharing and cross-applying the advanced expertise and practical knowledge held by each member firm, transcending individual firm boundaries.

Background of Member Firm Expansion

In recent years, SMEs have been facing challenges that are difficult to resolve on their own, such as business succession issues due to labor shortages, a lack of accounting personnel, and the promotion of DX triggered by compliance with the invoice system and the electronic book storage law.

In this context, accounting firms, which accurately grasp daily financial data and have a deep understanding of their clients' business conditions, are expected to play a role not only in tax filing and bookkeeping but also as consultants supporting corporate growth, including IPO support, M&A support, business succession, DX, management control, and financing support.

This expansion to 63 firms is not merely an increase in scale, but a strengthening of the system to enhance the support capabilities of the entire accounting firm industry by sharing practical knowledge across regions and sizes in response to the advanced management support needs that individual firms cannot meet.

By cross-applying the know-how of each member firm, Kaiho Ren aims to enhance its value as a social infrastructure supporting SME management and to communicate the reality of accounting firms that are advancing beyond the scope of taxation to young professionals who will lead the industry's transformation.

Holding of New Member Welcome Reception and Kick-off Seminar

On June 11, 2026 (Thu), a kick-off seminar and new member welcome reception were held at Hotel New Otani to welcome the 46 newly affiliated firms.

At the seminar, Chairman Hiroshi Hongo (Chairman of the Tsuji・Hongo Group) delivered a keynote speech on the future role of accounting firms and the industry's outlook.

The subsequent reception featured lively discussions among members gathered from across the country, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere that went beyond mere socializing to build a strong network of "new comrades" looking towards the future of the industry, culminating in closing remarks.

Future Activity Outlook

Kaiho Ren will accelerate the following activities as an operational organization to realize its vision, rather than just making declarations:

[1. Enhancing the Social Presence and Value of the Accounting Industry]

In the new graduate and job change markets, "consulting" is popular. What about the accounting firm industry?

While tax accountants are "taxation specialists," their roles as companions to business owners are diverse.

They are also "comprehensive consultants" who are responsible for designing and implementing everything from tax return preparation, business planning, cash flow management, accounting rationalization (BPO), and DX, to business succession, organizational restructuring, M&A, as well as inheritance planning, insurance, real estate, and finance (IFA), integrating business, capital, and individuals.

Even in the age of AI, this comprehensive capability, involving judgment, accountability, legal interpretation, and conflict resolution, is a core area that is difficult to replace and possesses an appeal comparable to the "consulting" industry.

However, public perception is biased towards "one aspect of taxation" and does not adequately convey their role beyond that of tax specialists.

We will visualize the reality and role models of accounting firms and actively promote them to younger generations, simultaneously working to raise their social presence and make the industry a choice for the next generation.

[2. Knowledge Sharing Through Research Committees]

Kaiho Ren has established the following research committees for common issues faced by member firms.

We will share practical examples and challenges from each company on themes such as recruitment, human resource development, M&A, technology utilization, regulatory compliance, public relations, and global engagement, and cross-apply this knowledge for the entire accounting firm industry.

- Human Resource Recruitment Research Committee: Shares knowledge on recruitment, training, and retention, and promotes approaches to universities, vocational schools, student organizations, and educational initiatives such as tax education.

- Accounting Firm M&A Research Committee: Promotes the utilization of M&A knowledge and case studies related to accounting firms as options for management strategy and exit strategies for business succession.

- Technology Research Committee: Shares knowledge on AI/DX utilization, information security, etc., and promotes practical discussions, including building cooperative relationships with vendor companies.

- Tax Accountant Act Revision Research Committee: Aims to study and propose system designs that respond to changes in the social and economic environment, considering the future vision of the tax accountant system.

- Public Relations Activities Research Committee: Responsible for planning and operating public relations activities to improve the social recognition of the accounting firm industry, disseminating reports on the activities of each research committee externally, and promoting new member recruitment initiatives.

- Global Committee: Creates a forum for learning and exchange regarding international business and global operations, promoting the development of specialized personnel and network formation.

[3. Promotion of Industry-Academia Collaboration]

Kaiho Ren promotes industry-academia collaboration with educational institutions such as universities to foster young talent who will support future corporate management.

On December 2, 2025, a special lecture and roundtable discussion were held at Hyogo Prefectural University to convey the practical aspects and appeal of working in large accounting firms.

We will continue to expand collaboration with educational institutions through classes, special lectures, practical experience, and internships.

By conveying the reality and diverse business areas of accounting firms, not limited to taxation, to students, we will support their career development as professionals.

At the same time, we will enhance the social recognition and brand value of the entire accounting industry, leading to the stable development and production of specialized personnel who support regional economies in the long term.

Comment from Hiroshi Hongo, Chairman of Kaiho Ren (Chairman of Tsuji・Hongo Group)

SMEs are currently facing unprecedentedly complex and advanced management challenges, such as DX promotion and business succession.

We, the accounting firms, who have been closely observing numbers alongside business owners for many years, are now strongly called upon to break free from the shell of "taxation agency" and act as companions to guide companies.

The 63 firms gathered at Kaiho Ren are not just a collection of peers. They are comrades who will pool their respective expertise and practical knowledge to jointly create a new market of "accounting-related consulting" based on taxation and accounting, and establish industry standards.

"Accounting-related consulting" is a dynamic field where one can touch the essence of management and directly support corporate growth.

It is an environment that offers significant challenges for excellent young talent building their careers.

I look forward to meeting new talents who will lead the industry of the next generation together.
