Announcement of the 12th "Taiwan Festival™ TOKYO 2026"

The Taiwan Lovers Association (location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Makoto Okada, hereinafter "Taiwan Lovers Association") announced that it will hold the 12th "Taiwan Festival™ TOKYO 2026" from July 9th (Thursday) to 12th (Sunday) at the Ueno Park Fountain Plaza in Tokyo, with the aim of deepening the relationship between Japan and Taiwan through Taiwanese food culture.

Background of the event "Taiwan Festival™" is a "special" Taiwanese event that began in 2014 with a one-tatami mat stage and the individual love for Taiwan of each person. Since 2017, the number of visitors has continued to increase, exceeding 250,000 in 2019, finally becoming a pioneer among Taiwanese events by achieving a cumulative total of 1 million visitors.

From 2024, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been promoting "SDGs" with a focus on waste reduction and environmental considerations. Taiwan Festival™ also supports the Tokyo Metropolitan Government by adopting "wash and reuse" cups!

The theme for 2026 is the celebratory mood of Taiwanese wedding culture, "囍 (Double Happiness)." In Taiwan, there are betrothal customs different from Japan, and wedding ceremonies also have interesting traditional Taiwanese cultural rituals. Recently, Western-style dresses have become mainstream, but even so, dazzling traditional costumes are very popular among the younger generation, like cosplay. The Taiwan Festival™ in 2026 will introduce Taiwan by dyeing the venue red with the theme of "囍 (Double Happiness)," such Taiwanese wedding culture.

(July 12th morning - limited to 100 servings) - Taiwanese Shaman "Tongji (Tankee)" makes his first appearance in Japan for fortune-telling and more. *May be subject to change due to circumstances.
