Yamagata Community Development University to Launch in July 2026

Yamagata Community Development University (Representative Secretaries: Yumito Ito, Nahoko Takahashi, Yasuko Takeda; Operator: General Incorporated Association Yamagata Community Development University) will launch a practical learning platform in July 2026, aiming to increase the number of human resources contributing to regional development at the municipal level. Created to address regional issues such as population decline and youth exodus, it provides a space for young people and business owners to gain 'learning,' 'practice,' and 'horizontal connections.' Local business leaders and practitioners are participating as co-founders, with So Kinoshita, Representative Director of Area Innovation Alliance, serving as an advisor. The program consists of two main pillars: the 'Community Development Management School' for learning management techniques, and 'Ultra-Practical Courses' for refining business proposals. Furthermore, it collaborates with local universities in Hokkaido, Shikoku, and Kyushu to share knowledge nationwide through mutual viewing of lecture videos and networking. Additionally, it offers a 50% tuition discount for students and those 25 and under to foster next-generation talent and encourage local retention.
