26th JAPAN DRUGSTORE SHOW Details: Preliminary Results Announced for "Food and Health Award 2026"

The Japan Chain Drug Stores Association (Chairman: Atsushi Tsukamoto; Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will hold the "26th JAPAN DRUGSTORE SHOW," an exhibition where various products, information, and systems supporting consumers' self-medication will be gathered, from July 31 (Fri), August 1 (Sat), and August 2 (Sun), 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight.

The theme for this year is "The Future of Drugstores Through Self-Medication ~NEXT25~." In recent years, drugstores, which offer a diverse range of products that align with social trends and consumer needs, including SDGs-conscious products, femcare items, and drugstore cosmetics, play an indispensable role as social infrastructure for self-medication. During the event, we will introduce the industry's next initiatives, implement measures to increase awareness of exhibited products, and plan numerous events to effectively promote self-medication to visitors. In advance of the event, we will announce the preliminary results of the "Food and Health Award 2026," which is driving market trends this year, as well as details of various events.

"Food and Health Award 2026" Preliminary Selection Results Announcement

This award, which recognizes "products and services that contribute to the realization of people's health and well-being through food," has been held annually since 2018 with the aim of creating a market for food that enhances health literacy. Entries were solicited from exhibitors of the 26th show, divided into the "Food Products Division" and "Supplement Division." A preliminary selection meeting was held on July 2, 2026 (Thu) to select nominated products that are candidates for the Grand Prix and Diamond awards.

Name: 26th JAPAN DRUGSTORE SHOW Food and Health Award 2026

Organizer: Japan Chain Drug Stores Association (JACDS)

Purpose: To select award-winning products from "all food products related to food and health" exhibited at the JAPAN DRUGSTORE SHOW, with entries solicited separately for the "Food Products Division" and "Supplement Division," followed by selection by a judging committee.

Eligibility: Exhibitors at the show and companies that have entered the Food and Health Award 2026.

Main Events

6th Men's Beauty Award (East Hall 8)

This year marks the 6th time the beauty award for prominent men will be held, taking place on the event stage from 11:15 AM on August 1 (Sat). Awards will be given in four categories: "Self-Medication Division" for individuals with high health awareness and a healthy, refreshing image; "Beauty Skincare Division" for those with high aesthetic awareness; "Beauty Middle Division" for those embodying adult coolness and beauty; and "Beauty Lifestyle Division" for healthy, long-lived individuals actively engaged in their pursuits. Awards will also be presented from manufacturer categories, followed by award ceremonies and talk shows with the recipients.

Kids' Pharmacist Experience Pharmacy (East Hall 3)

A popular experience corner where children can try their hand at being a pharmacist. They will wear a white coat, practice dispensing and operating a dispensing machine, and fill a medicine bag.

Participating children will receive a white coat and a certificate of completion.

Nobuhiro Takeda's Soccer Experience Class (East Hall 8 - Event Stage Collaboration Sports Project)

Panel Discussion "Connecting to the Future, Towards a Healthy and Prosperous Society: Drugstores x Wellness NEXT25 ~Expanding Possibilities of Drugstores~" (East Hall 8)

To be held on the event stage from 10:00 AM on July 31 (Fri). Industry pioneers will be invited to discuss the expanding possibilities of future drugstores, covering diverse themes such as "dispensing" and "prevention/pre-illness."

JACDS Theme Booth 2026 (East Hall 2)

The JACDS (Japan Chain Drug Stores Association) is engaged in activities that promote self-medication for communities and consumers. This booth will showcase association activities and member introductions, trends in pharmaceutical and health-related systems, self-check device measurement experiences, disaster preparedness promotion "My Backpack to Protect Life," and the promotion of 3R/circular economy.

New Product Collection 2026 (East Hall 8)

This area will feature a comprehensive display of new products released over the past year. Visitors can vote for their favorite products in a popularity contest and receive a sample item.

Sports Park ~Blow Away the Heat with Sports! Family Competition!~ (East Hall 3)

This event offers a fun way for the whole family to learn about the importance of health building by engaging in physical activities indoors, even during the midsummer heat.
