The Japan A2 Milk Association (Furano City, Hokkaido; Representative Director: Yuichiro Fujii) announces that, with the certification from the Japan Anniversary Association, it has established June 2nd as 'A2 Milk Day'.
A2 milk, which has been gaining attention in the domestic and international dairy industry, is being promoted through this new commemorative day to help more people recognize it as a new choice when selecting milk.
A2 milk is defined as milk where the 'β-casein' protein present is exclusively of the A2 type. Because it contains only the A2 type of this protein, it is considered gentle on the stomach and is believed to help alleviate lactose intolerance, a topic of ongoing research worldwide. In 2025, Professor Naoto Fukuyama of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Faculty of Applied Bioscience at Tokyo University of Agriculture, published the first clinical study on A2 milk conducted with Japanese subjects.
Since its establishment in 2020, the Japan A2 Milk Association has been dedicated to contributing to the Japanese dairy industry while providing value to consumers seeking health. Certified A2 milk products bearing the association's mark include: 'Japan A2 Association Hokkaido Milk', 'Kahokugata A2 Farm Milk', and 'MORIYAMA A2 Hokkaido Delicious Milk'.
