The Dozen Furusato Miryokuka Foundation (Oki-Dozen, Shimane Prefecture) operates the 'Adult Island Study Abroad' aimed at youths from all over the country, in cooperation with three municipalities in the Oki-Dozen area of Shimane Prefecture (Ama-cho, Nishinoshima-cho, Chibu-mura).

In April of Reiwa 8 (2026), approximately 150 youths arrived on the islands as Adult Island Exchange Students.

- What is Adult Island Study Abroad? It is a system where youths from all over the country 'live and work on the islands'.

'Adult Island Study Abroad' is where young people from all over the country live and work in the Oki-Dozen region (Ama-cho, Nishinoshima-cho, Chibu-mura), remote islands in Shimane Prefecture. The target participants are youths aged 20 to 29 (including working professionals and students).

You can choose a stay period of either 1 year or 3 months.

During your participation, you will be based in one of the islands in the Oki-Dozen region—Ama-cho, Nishinoshima-cho, or Chibu-mura—and experience living and working on the island.
