Katsuyama Sake Brewery's 'Katsuyama KIRA KIRA' Wins 2nd Place in Junmai Ginjo Category at SAKE COMPETITION 2026

On June 10, 2026, at 'SAKE COMPETITION 2026,' one of Japan's largest appraisal events for commercial sake, 'Katsuyama KIRA KIRA' by Sendai Izawake Katsuyama Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. won 2nd place (GOLD) in the Junmai Ginjo category.

This product was developed as a next-generation sake, using 100% 'Nijinokirameki,' a heat-resistant rice variety from Miyagi Prefecture, in response to concerns about the impact of climate change in recent years.

It features a sake quality characterized by a layered umami flavor and a crisp finish despite its low alcohol content (13.5%), and was developed with the intention of developing the sake market for people in their 20s.

As the only remaining sake brewery for the Date family, Katsuyama Sake Brewery inherits tradition and promotes sake to the world as a part of food culture based on the philosophy of 'SAMURAI SAKE.'
