The Japan Alpine Club Gunma Branch (Branch Head: Yasuo Nei) will hold the 'Akagi Forest School,' a parent-child experience program set around Mount Akagi, for a total of three days on July 4, 2026, and August 8-9, 2026.
This program leverages the 120-year history and expertise of the Japan Alpine Club to foster scientific thinking, social skills, and a rich heart that respects diversity through autonomous activities in the rich nature of Mount Akagi.
[Key Highlights of Akagi Forest School] 1. Safe Climbing Experience with a Step-by-Step Approach Before the main event in August, a light hike and orientation session will be held on July 4 as an 'icebreaker.' Participants can learn the basics and meet fellow members before tackling the main climb.
2. Diverse 'Knowledge, Body, and Spirit' Programs The program fuses experience with learning: Knowledge: Local history through card games, history of Mt. Jizo, and climbing preparation. Body: Canoeing at Lake Akagi Onuma and summiting Mt. Jizo. Spirit: Fire-making to learn ancient wisdom and collaboration through group living.
3. Fostering Parent-Child Bonds and Sociality A total of 40 participants (20 children and 20 parents) will join. Beyond sharing experiences, the group activities cultivate resilience, compassion, and respect for diversity.
