The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra (Suginami-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Kunio Ishizuka) will hold its 418th Yokohama Subscription Concert on June 27 and its 782nd Tokyo Subscription Concert on July 10 and 11 with changes to the featured artists.
418th Yokohama Subscription Concert (June 27, 2026) For the concert on Saturday, June 27, 2026, violinist Mun Boha will perform in place of the originally scheduled Boris Belkin, based on strong recommendations from both Mr. Belkin and conductor Junichi Hirokami. Mun Boha is a young, globally recognized violinist from South Korea who won the highest prize (2nd place) in the violin division of the 9th Sendai International Music Competition in 2025. The first half of the program will feature Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1. The second half will present the well-known Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, "Fate," preceded by Mozart's light and stylish overture to "The Impresario."

782nd Tokyo Subscription Concert (July 10-11, 2026) For the July 2026 concerts, conductor and renowned oboist François Leleux will take the podium in place of the orchestra's Principal Guest Conductor Neeme Järvi, joined by world-class violinist Akiko Suwanai. This will be the third collaboration with François Leleux. The first half features Beethoven's Violin Concerto, performed for the first time in 17 years at the orchestra's Tokyo subscription concerts. The second half brings Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5, a masterpiece composed in 1944.

The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in June 1956. With current Principal Conductor Kahchun Wong, who took the post in September 2023, the orchestra continues to garner praise for its creative and sincere music-making.
