Overview of the 'ART OSAKA 2026' Expanded Section

The 'Expanded Section' of 'ART OSAKA 2026', a major contemporary art fair supported by Chishima Jisho Co., Ltd., is scheduled from May 28 (Thu) to June 1 (Mon), 2026, at Creative Center Osaka (the former site of the Namura Shipbuilding factory). Thirteen groups of internationally acclaimed artists will gather to create dynamic, site-specific installations utilizing the unique characteristics of this former industrial space.

During this period, eight art events will take place around North Kitakagaya, allowing visitors to explore the neighborhood while enjoying contemporary art:

Collaboration with Nakanoshima Museum

Works related to the three artists participating in the exhibition 'We Are in the Room of Wonders, Perish.' at the Osaka Nakanoshima Museum—Yasumasa Morimura, Kenji Yanobe, and Miwa Yanagi—will also be on display in North Kitakagaya. Notably, the Morimura@Museum will host an annex exhibition, providing deep insight into the creative process behind his new works. Additionally, SSK will feature diverse performances, including those by Karyu Miyoshi and Rebecca Akane Fimmel. This synergy between the art fair and regional art spaces provides a unique opportunity to experience the full artistic energy of Osaka.
