Komyo-in was founded in 1391 (Meitoku 2) in the early Muromachi period by Kinzan Myosho as a sub-temple of Tofuku-ji. Affectionately known as the "Temple of the Rainbow Moss," its main garden, "Hashin-tei," which shows a magnificent harmony of moss and sand, is a dry landscape garden created by the Showa-era landscape architect Mirei Shigemori, and was built in 1939 along with the Tofuku-ji Hojo Garden.
Founded in 1391 (Meitoku 2) during the early Muromachi period by Kinzan Myosho, Komyo-in is a distinguished sub-temple of Tofuku-ji. Affectionately known as the "Temple of the Rainbow Moss," it features the stunning Hashin-tei Garden, where moss and sand coexist in perfect harmony. This dry landscape masterpiece was designed in 1939 by the renowned Showa-era landscape architect Mirei Shigemori, created in the same year as the famous Abbot's Hall gardens at Tofuku-ji.

——— If you still earthly passions, the moon (Buddha-nature) will reflect on the waves.
The garden's name, Hashin (The Heart of the Waves), holds a deeper meaning: If you still the turbulence of earthly passions, the moon (the Buddha-nature) will reveal itself, reflected beautifully on the surface of the waves.
TIME & SPACE™ has been held many times. At Komyo-in, this will be the 5th stage.
Having evolved through numerous installments, the "TIME & SPACE™" project is honored to present its fifth performance at the serene Komyo-in.
● THE WAVE
〜 Form is emptiness, emptiness is form, wave-particle unity, looking down, looking up 〜 Ambient Session with Nature
All beings emit their unique [waves].
Colors, sounds, brainwaves, quanta, emotions, trends, climate, all are [waves].
The smallest unit of the universe might be [waves]. It is the most fundamental principle that penetrates all things in nature.
