Namihaya Beach, located in the Saikazaki and Tano area where Wakayama City is currently promoting area branding, will begin accepting applications on Wednesday, May 20, for its trial opening as a training venue for scuba diving license acquisition.

Namihaya Beach is protected by breakwaters and wave-dissipating blocks, resulting in calm waves and providing a safe environment suitable for beginner training. Previously, there were no suitable locations in the city where full-scale diving training could be conducted, but this trial opening will enable year-round training sessions.

This is expected to generate new tourism demand not only in the summer but also in the off-season, and is considered to lead to enhanced appeal and regional revitalization in the area.
