Wakayama to Host "WAKAYAMA800 Mobile Stamp Rally 9th Season" for Cycling Enthusiasts

Wakayama Prefecture, Regional Promotion Department, Tourism Bureau, Tourism Promotion Division (Location: 1-1 Komatsubara-dori, Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture) announced that the "WAKAYAMA800 Mobile Stamp Rally 9th Season," a smartphone-based touring event, will be held from May 1, 2026 (Friday) to March 14, 2027 (Sunday), utilizing the "WAKAYAMA800" cycling route which spans over 800km within Wakayama Prefecture.

This event is a mobile stamp rally where participants tour check spots set up primarily in Wakayama Prefecture, but also in Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara Prefectures, by bicycle, collecting digital stamps while enjoying cycling and sightseeing. It proposes new ways to enjoy Wakayama tourism, such as detours, scenic views, and gourmet experiences unique to bicycle travel, in addition to cycling as a sport and outdoor activity.

Furthermore, leveraging the currently airing historical drama "Toyotomi Brothers!", a new award for touring historical sites related to the Toyotomi family has been established. This initiative also aims to promote the appeal of a wide-area cycling route in cooperation with the relevant prefectures (Wakayama, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara).

Participation/Registration Fee Free *Travel expenses to check spots, various expenses related to cycling, communication fees, etc., are to be borne by the participants.

(Newly established) Leveraging the currently airing historical drama "Toyotomi Brothers!", the relevant prefectures of Wakayama, Osaka, and Nara will cooperate to establish a new award for cycling to historical sites related to the Toyotomi family (Wakayama Castle, Osaka Castle, Koriyama Castle).

By connecting these historical spots by bicycle, we promote wide-area cycle tourism where participants can enjoy history and cycling simultaneously.

For Safe Participation (Request) ・While cycling, please observe road traffic laws and related regulations, and drive safely. ・Please participate while adhering to traffic rules, such as wearing a helmet and equipping lights and bells. ・Please pay close attention to the weather and your physical condition, and plan your ride without overexertion. ・Operating a smartphone while cycling is extremely dangerous. Please stop in a safe place before acquiring stamps or checking routes.
