Okayama University Announces "Basic Policy Against Customer Harassment" - Towards an Environment Where Staff Can Work, Educate, and Research with Peace of Mind

◆ Overview

National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City; President: Yasutomo Nasu) has announced its "Basic Policy Against Customer Harassment" to ensure an environment where all staff can work with peace of mind, in response to the partial revision of the Labor Policy Comprehensive Promotion Act, which will come into effect in October 2026. Customer harassment is a societal issue that the university cannot overlook.

＜Okayama University's Response＞ Regarding opinions and criticisms directed at the university, we will listen sincerely and respond earnestly, and to contribute to future improvements, we may record conversations.

Furthermore, if the university determines that an incident constitutes customer harassment, we will, in principle, refuse to respond further to such incidents.

For emails, if they contain aggressive language or expressions that exceed socially accepted norms, we will refrain from replying.

In cases deemed particularly malicious, we will cooperate with appropriate institutions such as lawyers and the police to take strict measures.

For customer harassment incidents that occur, we will strive to investigate the causes and consider measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

The university will continue to strive for a healthy and psychologically safe working, educational, and research environment for its staff.
