Professor Yasuyuki Nogami, Vice President in charge of DX Promotion and Information Security and a professor in the Faculty of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology (Engineering) at the Academic Research Institute of National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City; President: Yasutomo Nasu), received the Chugoku Comprehensive Communications Bureau Director's Award for Information and Communications Month on June 1, 2026, at the Reiwa 8th Anniversary 'Radio Day and Information and Communications Month' Commemorative Ceremony hosted by the Chugoku Comprehensive Communications Bureau.

The Chugoku Comprehensive Communications Bureau Director's Award for Information and Communications Month is co-hosted by the Chugoku Comprehensive Communications Bureau (Director: Ken Umemura) and the Chugoku Information and Communications Council (Chairman: Shigeru Ashitani, Chugoku Economic Federation). It is awarded to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the development of radio wave utilization and information and communications in the Chugoku region at the 'Radio Day and Information and Communications Month' Commemorative Ceremony.

Professor Nogami has been actively promoting awareness of the importance of cybersecurity measures. His efforts in promoting the formation of a security community as an expert in the Chugoku Regional Cybersecurity Liaison Council and his success in producing many talented individuals active in the security field were recognized, leading to his selection for the Chugoku Comprehensive Communications Bureau Director's Award during Information and Communications Month.

We look forward to the continued efforts of Okayama University and Vice President and Professor Nogami in strengthening the university as an open, regionally-focused, and distinctive research university.

I have been engaged in research and education on cybersecurity, as well as awareness-raising and human resource development in the region, and fostering a community where diverse people from industry, academia, and government can interact and learn from each other. In particular, I believe that cybersecurity talent is not cultivated by a single educator but grows and should be nurtured within a community.
