Sakai Densankan will hold a 'Hand-painted Koinobori Experience Workshop' for children on May 5th (Children's Day).
We will welcome Mr. Takeshi Takada from 'Takagi,' a Sakai Gogatsu Koinobori (May Carp Streamer) artisan with over 150 years of history, as the instructor. Participants can learn traditional skills while creating their own unique, hand-painted koinobori. By choosing your own colors and patterns, you will complete a one-of-a-kind carp streamer.
Furthermore, on the day of the event, 'Kashiwamochi' (rice cakes wrapped in oak leaves) from 'Tenjinmochi,' an artisan confectioner founded in 1952, will be sold in limited quantities. These flavorful treats, made using traditional methods, offer a nostalgic and heartwarming taste perfect for Children's Day.
This is a special day where you can enjoy Sakai's traditional crafts and seasonal Japanese sweets simultaneously. Please come and visit with your entire family.
