Osaka Electro-Communication University Marks 10th Consecutive Year at "BitSummit PUNCH," Japan's Largest Indie Game Festival!

Osaka Electro-Communication University (Neyagawa and Shijonawate, Osaka; President: Kunishige Shioda) will host a booth at "BitSummit PUNCH," Japan's largest indie game event, held at Miyako Messe (Kyoto International Exhibition Hall) for three days from May 22 (Fri) to 24 (Sun). This marks the university's 10th consecutive appearance since its debut in 2017. As with last year, OECU supports the event as a "Bronze Sponsor."

### Content of the Event: OECU established the first "Digital Game Department" in Japan in 2003, acting as a pioneer in game education. This spring, the department was restructured to better meet the needs of the changing times.

For this exhibition, 11 works (6 Digital Games, 5 2D/3D Graphics) were selected through multiple stages of screening, including document reviews and mock exhibitions. Faculty members from various fields provided practical advice on production and UI/UX (User Experience). Students who developed these works will be at the booth to provide explanations and handle game trials.

Furthermore, Associate Professors Yoshitatsu Mori and Takeshi Nagata will support the "BitSummit Gamejam" booth with 15 participating students. The "OECU eSports" club will leverage their competitive perspective to interview fellow indie developers. In a new initiative, all freshmen from the New Digital Game Department will visit the site as fieldwork to stimulate their creativity by experiencing world-class indie games immediately after enrollment.
