Osaka Electro-Communication University has initiated a new "Space and Meteorology Program" to shift the perspective on space from an object of wonder to a practical tool. This interdisciplinary program brings together eight faculty members specializing in fields such as cosmic ray physics, radio astronomy, and radar meteorology. It offers students hands-on learning by using real data from top-tier global observatories like the Nobeyama Radio Observatory, ALMA in Chile, and the Telescope Array in the US. The university has also launched a dedicated website and a simulation app, "Sky_Sim_App," to make learning about space and weather accessible to a wider audience. This initiative aims to cultivate practical skills that bridge data science and engineering.
