Muroran City, Hokkaido, has started selling 'Priority Purchase Pass & Meal Vouchers' usable at participating venues for the 'Yakitori JAPAN Festival' to be held on Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23, 2026.

In addition to general sales, this product will also be offered as a return gift for Muroran City's Furusato Nozei (hometown tax donation) program. This is a new initiative aimed at promoting visits and expanding local consumption triggered by the event.

A New Event Experience for Yakitori Fans Nationwide

The Yakitori JAPAN Festival is one of Japan's leading gourmet events, bringing together the unique yakitori cultures from various regions across the country.

While visitors can compare yakitori from representative shops nationwide, popular stalls often have long waiting lines.

To allow attendees to enjoy the event more comfortably, a special ticket combining a 'Priority Purchase Pass' and 'Meal Voucher' has been planned.

This allows visitors to purchase yakitori without waiting in line at participating stalls, enabling them to visit more stalls within a limited time.

At last year's 'Yakitori JAPAN Festival 2025 in Kurayoshi' (Tottori Prefecture), some stalls had waiting lines of 30 minutes to an hour.

Promoting Visits Through Furusato Nozei

Muroran City utilizes Furusato Nozei not merely as a donation system, but as a mechanism to create connections with the region.

This return gift was planned to provide an incentive for yakitori fans and food-focused travelers nationwide to visit Muroran City.

Donors will receive the Priority Purchase Pass & Meal Voucher as a return gift and can use it on the event day.

Through participation in the event, visitors can experience the local food culture and tourism resources, including Muroran yakitori, aiming to expand the exchange population and foster future relationship population.
