Fujitsu will begin offering the 'Fujitsu AI-Driven Modernization Service' in Japan from July 14, 2026, to support the sustainable growth of businesses and organizations. This service integrates Fujitsu’s practical expertise in system integration with generative AI, enabling automation and optimization of modernization processes centered on rewrites and rehosting. It aims to reduce migration time by approximately 40%, supporting customers in achieving rapid modernization.
In recent years, as digital transformation (DX) and AI transformation (AX) accelerate, modernizing legacy systems—the foundation of enterprise competitiveness—has become an urgent priority. This is especially critical in industries such as finance, public sector, and healthcare, where frequent regulatory changes occur, and in manufacturing and distribution, where complex business operations are managed. In these sectors, years of operational know-how are embedded within legacy systems.
To address these challenges, the service combines Fujitsu’s proprietary AI platform 'Fujitsu Kozuchi' and large language model 'Takane' (Note 1), with cutting-edge AI technologies such as 'Claude' from Anthropic PBC (Note 2) (hereinafter 'Anthropic') and 'GPT' from OpenAI (Note 3) (hereinafter 'OpenAI'), along with the practical knowledge of Fujitsu’s specialized engineers—Modernization Masters—experienced in legacy technologies. This fusion enables fast, high-quality modernization, supporting rapid business transformation for customers.
Through this service, Fujitsu aims to help customers establish leadership in data utilization and contribute to realizing data-driven, rapid decision-making.
Key Features of the Service
1. Accelerating Modernization through AI Automation
The service employs proprietary AI technology that enables cross-sectional analysis of various information from target legacy assets, managing them as centralized, AI-ready structured data. By standardizing judgment criteria across processes, it reduces rework and inconsistencies in quality. It also maintains the value of existing systems while enabling flexible future scalability.
Additionally, the service leverages custom-developed AI agents specialized in modernization automation, enabling orchestration control and parallel task execution. It automates language conversion and verification through harness engineering and continuously improves conversion outcomes via loop engineering, enabling large-scale, efficient transformation. The service goes beyond simple machine translation by enabling migration to object-oriented, maintainable, and scalable Java applications. Final human-in-the-loop review ensures consistent quality and risk mitigation. This approach enables large-scale, complex modernization projects with approximately 40% reduction in project duration.
2. Advancing Customer DX with Multi-AI Driven Modernization
At the core of the service is Fujitsu’s self-evolving multi-AI agent technology, where multiple AI agents collaborate and autonomously learn, built around the 'Fujitsu Kozuchi' AI platform and the 'Takane' large language model. Fujitsu will also actively integrate world-leading AI technologies such as 'Claude' from Anthropic and 'GPT' from OpenAI.
These multiple AI models are flexibly combined based on customer-specific business needs, program characteristics, and security requirements, and delivered as a transformation service. This allows customers to focus on core initiatives such as business innovation and ROI generation, without needing to manage the complexity of selecting and operating rapidly evolving AI technologies, enabling steady modernization progress.
3. High-Speed, High-Accuracy Modernization with Proprietary Knowledge-Trained AI Agents
Fujitsu has linguistically and digitally encoded thousands of past project outcomes, including successes and failures, and trained dedicated AI agents on this proprietary knowledge. This enables highly reproducible, reliable, and consistent modernization—developed in Japan—regardless of location or time, overcoming the challenge of securing skilled knowledge engineers and accelerating deployment.
4. Gradual Rollout of Self-Service AI Platform to Empower Customer-Led AI Adoption
Fujitsu has already launched the first offering of its AI-driven modernization platform service, 'Fujitsu Application Transform powered by Fujitsu Kozuchi,' in March 2026, which automatically generates design documentation. The newly launched 'Fujitsu AI-Driven Modernization Service' is a specialized transformation service where Fujitsu optimally selects and applies the latest AI technologies for customers. Fujitsu will progressively provide an AI service platform based on this service’s practical knowledge, enabling customers to independently execute modernization.
Going forward, Fujitsu will continue to support accelerated and sustainable modernization for its customers through this service.
