Implementation of the 'Try License Surrender & Use Public Transport' Program

Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture, will trial the 'Try License Surrender & Use Public Transport' program starting June 1st, allowing elderly residents to experience life using public transport before voluntarily surrendering their driver's licenses. The objective is to help residents realize the convenience of public transport and promote its usage thereafter.

### Eligibility Ojiya City residents born on or before April 1, 1956.

### Conditions for Participation 1. Experience life moving via public transport without driving a car for at least one month. 2. Answer a participant questionnaire after the experience ends.

### Participation Incentives One-time subsidy per person for one of the following public transport incentives: - Local Bus Voucher: 11,000 yen worth (100 yen tickets x 110) - City Public Transport Common Use Voucher: 10,000 yen worth (100 yen tickets x 100) - Valid for: AI On-demand Transport 'Ikote', all share-taxi lines, and general taxis. - Expiration Date: Wednesday, March 31, 2027.

### Application Procedure Please bring your driver's license to the Nigiwai Koryu Division (Ojiya City Hall branch office: 1-13-20 Jonai, Ojiya City) to apply. - Application Period: June 1st (Mon) to February 26th, 2027 (Fri). - Note: Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis and will end once the budget is reached.
