Applications Open Today for Parent-Child Nature Experience Program on Sakushima Island, Nishio City, to Foster Children's Independence This Summer! [Summer Vacation Special] Nature Experience on Sakushima! Parent-Child "Root Academy" 2026 Summer

The Nishio City Tourism Association will hold the parent-child nature experience program "Root Academy 2026 Summer" on Sakushima Island, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture, for four days: July 31, 2026 (Friday), August 2 (Sunday), August 11 (Tuesday/Holiday), and August 15 (Saturday).

This program is an experiential event aimed at providing children with opportunities to spend time freely in nature, while also learning about coexistence with nature and circular living.

Set against the backdrop of Sakushima's rich natural environment, children will experience making lunch using island ingredients and chopping firewood while playing in nature. For parents, a meeting will be held on the theme of "Mindful Parenting" to discuss how parents can foster their children's independence and initiative.

In recent years, a decline in opportunities for children to interact with nature has been pointed out. This program utilizes the island's unique environment to offer children a chance to learn and grow by engaging their five senses.

We encourage you to participate not only to create summer vacation memories but also as an opportunity for both parents and children to make new discoveries and learn.

Parent-Child "Root Academy" 2026 Summer Event Outline

July 31, 2026 (Friday), August 2 (Sunday), August 11 (Tuesday/Holiday), August 15 (Saturday)

<Venue>

Sakushima, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture

<Participation Fee>

15,000 yen per pair (1 child, 1 adult)

*Additional fee: 7,000 yen per additional child, 3,000 yen per additional adult

*Children aged 2 and under cannot participate in the program but can accompany for free.

<Schedule>

Reception starts: 9:00 AM at Isshiki Port Ferry Terminal

Disbandment: Around 4:30 PM (Sakushima venue)

*After disbandment, you are free to enjoy exploring Sakushima's art sites.

<Participation Requirements>

- Participants must sign a consent form for the use of their image and likeness for promotional purposes of this event. Please print the consent form from the application website, sign it, and bring it on the day of the event. If you cannot print it, a form will be provided on the day for you to fill out.

- Adults who can fully focus on watching over the children. (While children are collecting driftwood on the beach, adults will have a meeting about "How to Watch Over Children." Participation is mandatory.)
