Nippon Sharyo, Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Aichi; President: Mamoru Tanaka) has announced the first shipment of new high-speed rail vehicles for Taiwan, which were ordered from Hitachi, Ltd.
This project involves the manufacturing of a portion of the 144 cars (12 trainsets) of new high-speed rail vehicles that the Hitachi Toshiba Supreme Consortium (HTSC)—comprising Hitachi, Toshiba, and others—received from Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) in May 2023. The completed vehicles are based on the 'N700S,' the latest Shinkansen model from Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central).
Nippon Sharyo has been consistently engaged in overseas projects in addition to domestic rail vehicle manufacturing. For the Taiwan high-speed rail project, the company has leveraged its years of expertise in high-speed rail manufacturing technology and quality control to proceed with production according to schedule.
The vehicles shipped this time will be delivered to THSRC through Hitachi. Nippon Sharyo intends to continue prioritizing quality and reliability while collaborating closely with partner companies to ensure the steady progress of this project.
