Ganso Shachimonaka Honten, a traditional Japanese confectionery maker founded in 1907 in Nagoya, has expanded its popular summer treat, 'Shachi Monaka Kuzu Bar,' with the addition of new flavors: Melon and White Lemon. The new products will be available starting June 11, 2026.
With this addition, the company completes a vivid lineup of eight colors, positioning them as a fresh Japanese-style chilled sweet for the summer season.
1. Development Background: Modernizing Tradition While maintaining a 119-year heritage of confectionery making, the company has seen deeper engagement with younger customers via social media. Notably, customers have been purchasing multiple Kuzu Bars to match the 'member colors' of their favorite idols and characters, sharing photos online. Driven by the desire to make traditional sweets more pop-culture friendly and enjoyable, the company developed the new Green (Melon) and White (White Lemon) flavors to complement the existing six, creating a full eight-color gradient.
2. Product Features: A Never-Melting Treat Using kudzu powder, the bars offer a crispy texture when frozen and a mochi-like texture when slightly melted. A major feature is that they do not drip like typical ice pops, allowing customers to take beautiful photos with merchandise or acrylic stands without worrying about melting.
3. Eight-Color Lineup New: Melon (Green), White Lemon (White) Existing: Ramune (Light Blue), Mandarin Orange (Orange), Cola (Brown), Grape (Purple), Pineapple (Yellow), Strawberry (Red)
4. Store Promotion Customers who visit the Osu flagship store and add the official LINE account will receive one 'Ganso Shachi Monaka,' the company's long-standing signature product.
5. Product Overview Product: Shachi Monaka Kuzu Bar Price: 340-380 JPY (tax included) Launch: June 11, 2026 Location: Ganso Shachimonaka Honten
