MIZ DIALOGUE Announces New Color "Desert Black." Bringing Volcanic Desert Textures to Eyewear; Limited-Time Order Event to be Held at blinc / blinc vase from July 18 (Sat)

MIZ DIALOGUE, a collaborative brand between Arakawa Megane Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Taito-ku, Tokyo), which operates the eyewear shops "blinc" and "blinc vase," and Mizushima Megane, an eyewear manufacturer from Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, will add a new color, "Desert Black," to its <THE METAL PLATING COLLECTION>, which expands the surface finishing options for metal frames.

To commemorate this, a special limited-time order event featuring the new color will be held from Saturday, July 18, 2026, to Sunday, August 2, 2026, at two stores: blinc and blinc vase.

New Color "Desert Black": An Expression of Black Where Refinement and Memory Intersect

MIZ DIALOGUE seeks not just colors to adorn the face, but shadows that most beautifully highlight the "structure" of the frame itself.

For the new color "Desert Black," we have adopted IP (Ion Plating) technology, which uses a "combination of aluminum and titanium" that boasts extremely high hardness and durability, also used in industrial cutting tools. This achieves a "semi-gloss matte texture" with a dull sheen, reminiscent of charcoal, unlike a complete black.

This unique texture connects to the memory of "Ura-Sabaku" (Back Desert) on Izu Oshima, Japan's only desert, which is covered in black volcanic rocks (scoria).

When Junichi Tashiro, the brand's director, actually visited the Ura-Sabaku on Izu Oshima, he was deeply impressed by the overwhelmingly anonymous landscape and took photographs there.

The deep, immersive black texture of the Ura-Sabaku, which absorbs light without being too dark and reflects without being too bright. The memory recorded in those photographs and the texture of the IP black created through chemical reaction miraculously met, leading to this color being named "Desert Black."

This dull black, which neither absorbs too much light nor reflects too much, more richly and quietly accentuates the intricate edges and three-dimensional structure of the metal frames.

At this event, orders can be placed for both full-rim and rimless (e.g., René) styles. In addition to advance orders for the new color "Desert Black," you can custom order by selecting your preferred color from a total of four metal finishes, including the standard "Yellow Gold," "White Gold," and "Ruthenium" from <THE METAL PLATING COLLECTION>.

Mizushima Megane was founded in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, in 1941. The company handles the entire production process, from design and development to mold manufacturing, parts manufacturing, frame assembly, and finishing, all in-house.

It is one of the few factories in Japan capable of processing solid gold, and also manufactures frames from sterling silver, platinum 950, and "Sun Platinum," which has minimal age-related degradation and is excellent for reprocessing.
