We are pleased to announce that film director Daihachi Yoshida has been appointed as an international jury member for the 21st Sapporo International Short Film Festival (organized by NoMaps Executive Committee).

The international short film festival, held annually in Sapporo in autumn, will mark its 21st edition, scheduled to take place for three days from October 23 (Friday) to 25 (Sunday), 2026. The international jury will award approximately 20 prizes, including the Grand Prix, Best Director Award, Best National Film Award, and Screenplay Award, from the nominated works in the International Competition. A total of three international jury members are planned, including Daihachi Yoshida.

Profile Born in 1963 in Kagoshima Prefecture. After graduating from university, he worked as a commercial director. After several short films, he made his feature film debut in 2007 with "Funuke Show Some Love, You Losers!". It was selected for the Critics' Week section of the 60th Cannes International Film Festival. He won the Best Picture Award and Best Director Award at the 36th Japan Academy Prize for "The Kirishima Thing" (2012). His latest work "Teki (Enemy)" (2025) achieved a triple crown at the 37th Tokyo International Film Festival, winning the Tokyo Grand Prix, Best Director Award, and Best Actor Award, followed by the Best Director Award at the 18th Asian Film Awards and the Grand Prize for Japanese Film at the 80th Mainichi Film Awards. Other works include "The Wonderful World of Captain Kuhio" (2009), "Permanent Nobara" (2010), "Pale Moon" (2014), "A Beautiful Star" (2017), and "Kiba: The Fangs of Fiction" (2021).
