[Recommendation 2] Excellent Access from the Tokyo Metropolitan Area - Ideal for Day Trips

With approximately 15 minutes from both the Ken-O Expressway Sagamihara IC and the Chuo Expressway Sagamiko Higashi IC, access from the Tokyo metropolitan area is excellent.

From the Yokohama area, it's just a 70-minute drive via expressway. During peak travel seasons, many day-trippers visit from the Tokyo Tama area, Tokyo's 23 wards, and Yokohama/Kawasaki. Popular nearby natural spots include Lake Miyagase and the Doshi River, as well as tourist attractions like MORIMORI (formerly Sagamiko Pleasure Forest) and Hattori Ranch, making it a popular area for combined day trips.

[Recommendation 3] Blueberry Picking in the Shade

Since summer is the harvest season for blueberries, blueberry picking can often mean sweating profusely under the summer sun, with the intense heat limiting daytime activities. However, you still want to go out on weekends, right?

Sagamiko Berry Garden utilizes a "solar sharing" system that combines power generation with agriculture. All the blueberries are grown under solar panels, allowing you to enjoy blueberry picking in the shade.

Visitors have commented, "It's cool!" and "I used to go to other blueberry farms, but this one is better," with some switching their visits.

Blueberries in pots lined up under the panels. Weed control sheets prevent muddiness even when it rains.

[Recommendation 4] Popular Blueberry Varieties from Mid-Season Onward

From late June to July, excellent mid-season varieties will ripen one after another. "Legacy," known for its superb balance of sweetness, tartness, and texture, remains consistently popular. Mid-season large varieties the size of a 500-yen coin, such as "Draper" and "Titan," as well as "Pink Lemonade," which ripens to a pink color, are also popular.

[Recommendation 5] Add "Learning" to Your Leisure

Sagamiko Berry Garden is Sagamihara City's first blueberry farm utilizing solar sharing. This initiative to revitalize the region by transforming abandoned farmland in mountainous areas into sites for electricity and food production has received numerous awards, including the Kanagawa Decarbonization Award. It's not just a leisure activity; children and adults can learn while having fun. (Media coverage and awards here)
