LOOOF Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 559-1 Nakarukawa, Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture), specializing in the planning, design, and construction of lodging facilities rooted in local culture, has consistently supported the business concept, design, and construction of 'Sukuba Esoto (Esoto),' a cultural guesthouse for one group per day, operated by Yamanashi Meisho Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 2283 Daira, Hakushu Town, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture), the sake brewery behind the 'Shichiken' brand founded in 1750 (Kan'en 3).
The facility opened on June 1, 2026, in Daira, Hakushu Town, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
Today, July 15, 2026, we are pleased to announce the launch of the official website.
'Sukuba Esoto' is a project that thoughtfully reconstructs the philosophy of Shichiken's sake brewing and the charm of a cultural residence believed to have been built around the 40th year of the Meiji era into a modern guest experience.
LOOOF Co., Ltd. interpreted the sake-making spirit inherited by Shichiken and the historical context of Daira-juku, accompanying the project from concept development through architectural design, interior work, and construction supervision.
We have shaped this philosophy—beauty carefully chosen, time refined—into a physical space.
'Sukuba Esoto' is a cultural guesthouse operated by Yamanashi Meisho (Shichiken), offering exclusive use of an entire building for one group per day, accommodating up to four guests. It offers a special one-night stay where Yamanashi's abundant water, brewing, cuisine, and culture intersect.
Experience the spring source nestled in the embrace of Mount Kaikoma, the rice paddies cultivating sake rice, the 300-year-old brewery, and the kura-buro (bathhouse) renovated from a storehouse on the premises. Immerse yourself in the world of Shichiken with all five senses.

STORY — Choosing, Trimming, Refining
Hakushu, embraced by the Southern Alps and Mount Kaikoma, and Daira-juku, once a crossroads of people and culture. Shichiken's sake brewing has been supported by pure water refined over long years through granite, walking hand in hand with the history of this land.
'Sukuba Esoto' was born from re-examining nature's blessings and accumulated time, carefully choosing what truly should remain, trimming away the excess, and refining the senses—a guesthouse limited to one group per day.
Our goal here extends beyond building a single inn. We aim to pass on the memory of Daira-juku to the future, gently rekindling the flow of water, livelihood, and human connection in this land. As a new form of stay that contributes to regional revitalization, we offer a quietly resonant experience for our guests.
EXPERIENCE — All Begins with Beautiful Water
Three experiences designed to deepen your one night at Sukuba Esoto. Touch the water held by the mountains, walk through the history etched in the town, and encounter Hakushu's unique craftsmanship. A time to personally verify the story behind the sake with your own feet, eyes, and senses.
1. Spring Source Tour — To the Origin of Water and Rice
The spring source, the origin of all things for Shichiken, bubbling from the embrace of Mount Kaikoma. And the rice paddies where sake rice grows, nurtured by this water. We will guide you to the very first scenery where a single cup of Shichiken is born.
2. Brewery Tour — Walking Through 300 Years of Tradition
In addition to visiting the 'Gyozaisyo' (Imperial Temporary Palace) where Emperor Meiji once stayed, we offer guests exclusive access to the brewery and old sake storehouse, normally not open to the public. Feel the air of the brewing floor, the aroma of aged sake, and the quiet breath of a 300-year-old brewery up close.
3. Local Tour — To Hakushu's Craftsmanship
Blessed with renowned water, Hakushu is not only a sake-producing region but also a 'land of craftsmanship' centered around confectionery, distillation, and water itself. From Kinseiken confectionery, seasonal harvest experiences at local farms, to trekking courses in the Southern Alps—we propose a uniquely Hakushu day tailored to your interests.
PAIRING DINNER — Gathering Around the Table of Terroir
Meals at Sukuba Esoto are served in a private dining area exclusively for guests. To highlight the 'seamless harmony' created by ingredients from local producers and Shichiken sake, we carefully examined each ingredient's character.
Enjoy the temperature of the dishes, the elegance of tableware primarily from Meiji-era antiques, and the harmony with sake to your heart's content. In addition to the pairing dinner, experience the spirit of traditional post-town inns, and breakfast bathed in the morning light of Hakushu. Each dish at Sukuba Esoto reflects the terroir of Hakushu.
*Menu contents may change depending on the season and daily procurement.
SPACE — The Entire Cultural Residence
Choosing, trimming, refining. We preserved the charm of a historic house believed to have been built around the 40th year of the Meiji era, adapting it into a setting suitable for modern stays. Living room, dining area, bedrooms, Japanese-style room, lounge, front garden, inner garden, and kura-buro. All spaces are exclusively for one group of guests.
A living room overlooking the inner garden, a private dining area exclusively for guests, and a stone bathhouse renovated from an on-site storehouse. Gentle light and greenery flow in, Yamanashi's seasonal flavors and Shichiken sake quietly accompany you, and stone and shadows gently ease your mind. Enjoy a stay slightly removed from daily life, surrendering to tranquility.
WELLNESS — The Kura-Buro: A Quiet Space of Stone and Shadows
A bathhouse unique to Sukuba Esoto, renovated from a storehouse on the premises. In this serene space filled with Hakushu's soft natural light, feel the contrast between the stone design and pure water.
Immerse yourself in the water of Hakushu that supports Shichiken's sake brewing, slowly entrusting the day's journey to the soothing bath—a healthy, restorative moment.
