aptpod, Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo; CEO: Junichi Sakamoto) will participate as a technology partner in a joint demonstration of remote construction using a real-time digital twin platform. The trial, conducted alongside Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. and Fukudome Kaihatsu Co., Ltd., is scheduled to begin in 2026 at a construction site in Tosa City, Kochi Prefecture. aptpod will provide the cloud-based data collection system and user interface powered by its industrial data streaming middleware, "intdash."

Background Amidst a growing labor shortage in the construction industry, remote construction is gaining attention for its potential to balance safety and productivity. Traditional methods rely heavily on camera feeds, which often lack the comprehensive situational awareness needed for complex sites. This project utilizes a real-time digital twin platform to integrate site data, such as 3D terrain and machinery status, to enhance remote operation of hydraulic excavators.

Real-Time Digital Twin Infrastructure Developed by Hitachi Construction Machinery using intdash, this platform integrates real-time data from 3D terrain, machinery, vehicles, and workers to recreate the site in a virtual space. It features a unified interface for remote operation and management, aiming to improve site safety and efficiency. aptpod's intdash serves as the technical backbone, ensuring low-latency transmission of large-scale industrial data.

Key Verification Items 1. Safety and Productivity: Assessing how a comprehensive digital twin overview improves remote excavation compared to traditional methods. 2. Comparative Analysis: Evaluating efficiency across three scenarios: direct visual contact, camera-based operation, and digital twin-assisted operation. 3. Decision Support: Testing real-time information sharing between remote operators and managers to facilitate better site-wide decision-making.

Demonstration Overview - Period: June 1, 2026 – July 31, 2026 (Planned) - Location: Tosa City, Kochi Prefecture - Task: Remote excavation using the Hitachi ZX200A-7 hydraulic excavator - Roles: Hitachi Construction Machinery (Platform & Oversight), Fukudome Kaihatsu (Evaluation), aptpod (intdash Data Infrastructure), Vectrology (Panorama Vision), and Unicast (3D Terrain Software).
