Amidst the intense summer heat and rising electricity prices, interest in heat-mitigation measures that can be implemented at home is growing.
Intellix Inc. (Wakayama Prefecture, Wakayama City, President and CEO Taro Kimura), which operates the custom curtain specialty store "Just Curtain," will launch high heat shielding lace curtains using special fibers woven with aluminum vapor-deposited film in early July 2026.
These products, offered under our original product numbers, have recorded the No. 1 and No. 2 rankings in heat shielding rate, effectively suppressing heat intrusion from the outside with superior heat shielding effects compared to conventional products.
While suppressing heat intrusion from the outside, they also offer high UV cut performance, privacy, and washability, providing greater comfort to your summer living environment.
Curtains are Key to Summer Heat Countermeasures
Approximately 73% of the heat entering a room comes through windows (Japan Building Materials and Housing Equipment Industries Association), and "revisiting window treatments" is gaining attention as a measure against summer heat and for saving electricity.
While attention often focuses on air conditioner settings, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy recommends blocking sunlight with lace curtains or blinds as an energy-saving measure. The Ministry of the Environment's "Housing Decarbonization NAVI" also highlights improving window insulation performance as a crucial factor for enhancing heating and cooling efficiency, leading to increased interest in heat-shielding curtains as a method that can be started without major renovations.
"Just Curtain" proposes heat-shielding lace curtains as a heat and electricity-saving measure that can be implemented without construction, based on this background. Compared to ordinary lace curtains, they suppress solar heat intrusion, and improvements in cooling efficiency and electricity savings can be expected. Curtains are positioned not just as interior decor, but as items that support comfort and energy conservation.

An Option for Heat Shielding Lace: Easy to Start Without Construction
Heat-shielding lace curtains are energy-saving items that can be used year-round, reducing room temperature rise in summer by suppressing heat intrusion from sunlight, and preventing indoor heat from escaping in winter. By improving cooling efficiency, the load on air conditioners is reduced, and electricity bill savings can be expected.
While energy saving often brings to mind equipment investment or renovations, the appeal of heat-shielding lace is its ease of installation, simply by replacing your current curtains.
In recent years, the functions required of lace curtains have diversified, with options expanding to include heat shielding, UV cut, blackout, and heat retention, allowing for choices tailored to window environments and lifestyles.
"Just Curtain" offers products with specified functional values such as "Heat Shielding Rate 40%" and "UV Cut Rate 80%."
For products with high heat shielding rates, an estimate of the annual electricity savings is displayed on hanging samples, creating an environment where functions can be intuitively compared when choosing a product.
To coincide with the start of the main summer season in June-July, we are focusing on heat-shielding lace curtains and actively proposing them not just as "privacy screens" or for "light control," but as functional items that support summer home living.
Launch of High Heat Shielding Lace Sales
Just Curtain offers a wide range of heat-shielding lace curtains with energy-saving functions, and will begin selling new patterns with enhanced heat shielding rates in early July.
Two of the new products to be released this time use special fibers woven with aluminum vapor-deposited film.
The aluminum vapor-deposited layer efficiently reflects infrared rays contained in sunlight, significantly suppressing heat intrusion into the room. This achieves higher heat shielding performance than conventional heat-shielding lace.
In insulation tests (infrared lamp 60°C method), they recorded the highest and second-highest heat shielding rates among our original product numbers.
In addition, they integrate functions required for summer into a single curtain, such as high UV cut, privacy (making it difficult to see inside from outside), and washability for home use.
[Save approximately \5,952 on annual electricity bills!] Luminus Plain White (Product Number: JE-03013)
A lace curtain with a clean, plain design. It boasts high functionality with a heat shielding rate of 49.5% and UV cut rate of 92.4%, while also naturally obscuring views from outside. It is also machine washable at home, making daily care easy.
[Save approximately \5,812 on annual electricity bills!] Luminus Leaf White (Product Number: JE-03014)
A lace curtain with a natural leaf pattern that adds color to your space. It offers high functionality with a heat shielding rate of 48.6% and UV cut rate of 93.1%, and also blocks views from outside. This curtain is also machine washable at home.
[Regarding the calculation of electricity cost reduction]
◆Calculation Method Air conditioner power consumption (0.5kW) × Operating hours (h) × Electricity rate per unit × Energy saving effect rate
〇Operating hours: Assumed to be 2000 hours per year.
〇Electricity rate per unit: Assumed to be \31/kWh (guideline from the Japan Fair Trade Commission for household electrical appliances).
〇Energy saving effect rate: Calculated by multiplying the heat shielding rate of each product by a coefficient (0.5), based on calculations from the Ministry of the Environment's "COOL CHOICE" and other sources. A general lace curtain is assumed to be our product number JC-12183 (heat shielding rate 11.1%).
◆The calculated amount is an estimate and projection calculated under specific conditions and does not guarantee the actual savings. Actual savings will vary depending on conditions such as the building's insulation and airtightness, window size, and outside temperature.
◆Our standard: Heat shielding is considered present if the new heat shielding test (infrared lamp 60°C method) results in 20% or more.
Optional Proposals to Further Enhance Heat Shielding Effects
In addition to heat-shielding lace curtains, Just Curtain also offers options to further enhance their effectiveness.
The "Lined Lace" option involves sewing a heat-shielding lace to the back of your preferred lace fabric, improving heat shielding and blackout properties while maintaining design aesthetics. This lining option can also be added to thick curtains.
Additionally, the "Return Specification," which suppresses outside air from entering through gaps at the edges of the curtains, is another effective option for improving cooling efficiency.

Choosing the Right Size for Maximum Heat Shielding Effect
To ensure sufficient heat-shielding performance, it is also important to properly size the curtains to the window. If the curtains are not the correct size, heat can easily enter through the gaps with the window, preventing the curtains from fully utilizing their intended heat-shielding capabilities.
Just Curtain emphasizes measurement proposals and fitting tailored to window sizes, and provides guidance on correct measurement methods based on curtain rails and size selection according to window shapes.
