Perpetual care graves and tree burials will open on July 5, 2026 (Sun) at "Kannonji" in Mashiko Town, Haga District, Tochigi Prefecture. Kannonji is a temple located in Mashiko Town, known as a pottery town, and is popular with visitors and tourists for its Japan's largest pottery Mashiko Daibutsu and the world's largest pottery Sanjaku Taiko drum.

Kannonji has accepted perpetual care graves in the past. In recent years, due to the declining birthrate, aging population, and the trend towards nuclear families, more people are concerned about grave inheritance and management, leading to an even greater demand for perpetual care graves.
