Cosmic Corporation (President & CEO: Tsuyoshi Kikuchi; Head Office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) has announced the release of Glucagon ELISA 'Cosmic' II, an in-vitro diagnostic reagent. This kit was developed by Professor Tadahiro Kitamura of the Department of Metabolic Signal Analysis, Institute for Molecular and Cellular Regulation, Gunma University, utilizing a sandwich ELISA method with reduced cross-reactivity.
Professor Kitamura noted, 'In recent years, glucagon has been reported to be associated not only with diabetes but also with obesity and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). We expect this kit to contribute to elucidating new pathologies and establishing treatments related to glucagon.'
Key features of Glucagon ELISA 'Cosmic' II include:
- A sandwich ELISA kit using antibodies that recognize both ends of the glucagon molecule. - Significantly reduced cross-reactivity for improved accuracy. - Excellent reproducibility, with a coefficient of variation (CV %) of less than 10% in tests, minimizing inter-measurement variability.
Professor Kitamura further emphasized, 'Glucagon ELISA 'Cosmic' II enables precise glucagon measurement with its reduced cross-reactivity. I look forward to its contribution to the discovery of new pathological conditions and the development of therapeutic methods.'
Correlation tests involving 110 samples compared to the previous version (Glucagon ELISA 'Cosmic') showed a regression of y = 1.1x - 3.2 and a correlation coefficient of r = 0.94. This reliable diagnostic tool was launched following rigorous basic and clinical evaluations.
