KOLC Inc. (Toshima-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masao Tsutsumi) has significantly enhanced the 'Mapping Function' for creating 3D and 2D CAD from point cloud data within its BIM/CIM cloud service 'KOLC+'. This allows users to perform 3D mapping tasks smoothly and intuitively using only a web browser, without requiring high-spec PCs or installed CAD software.
Development Background As Infrastructure DX and mandatory BIM/CIM application expand, the use of point cloud data from drones and laser scanners is rapidly increasing. However, mapping point clouds into lines and surfaces typically requires high processing power and expensive specialized workstations. KOLC+ leverages its cloud strength to solve these issues with practical new features.
Key Update Features
### Support for Edit History (Undo/Redo) The system now supports Undo/Redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y). This enables stress-free trial and error, improving overall work efficiency.
### Enhanced Input Assist (Rectangle / 90° / XY Axis) - **Rectangle Input**: Quickly and accurately enter rectangular shapes like walls or foundations by specifying three points. - **90-Degree Snap**: Maintain precise right angles while modeling structure corners. - **XY Axis Snap**: Draw lines accurately along the X and Y coordinate axes.
### Dimension Input Support In addition to manual plotting, users can now enter specific numerical dimensions to create and edit shapes based on design or measured values.
### Color Preservation for DXF Export When exporting mapped data as DXF, specified color information is now preserved. This reduces the need for re-coloring in other CAD software and ensures smooth data integration.
### 'Median' Extraction for Point Cloud Sections (Noise Reduction) A new function extracts the 'Median' from point cloud vertical sections. This automatically reduces noise from heavy machinery or vegetation, making it easier to trace the actual outlines of structures.
About KOLC+ KOLC+ is a BIM/CIM cloud platform for integrating and sharing models and point clouds. It is used by over 500 companies and is certified as an information sharing system (ASP) and subsidy-eligible software by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
