Average Cost of New Exterior Construction (2021–2025)

As a result of the survey, the average construction cost has been trending upward year after year, exceeding 2 million yen for the first time in 2025.

In addition to the soaring material prices since the Wood Shock, the rise in logistics and labor costs is clearly reflected in exterior construction expenses. It is evident that the conventional wisdom from several years ago—that an "exterior budget is 1 million yen"—is becoming difficult to apply in the current market environment.

Distribution of New Exterior Construction Costs (2025 Results)

The most common price range was "2.00 to 2.49 million yen."

・ 2.00–2.49 million yen: 19.1% (Most common)

・ 1.50–1.99 million yen: 16.1%

・ 1.00–1.49 million yen: 14.2%

・ 0.50–0.99 million yen: 12.1%

・ 4.00 million yen or more: 8.0%

More than half of the total (54.1%) set a budget of 1.5 million yen or more, indicating a trend where more users are investing properly in the exterior, which serves as the "face of the house."
