TV Asahi Corporation and CA Tech Kids, Inc. have announced the launch of 'Tech Kids Grand Prix 2026,' a programming contest for elementary school students.

'Tech Kids Grand Prix' is a contest aimed at all elementary students who will lead the future. Since its debut in 2018, it has grown into Japan's largest programming contest for children, receiving 11,554 entries for the 2025 competition.

The 9th edition, for the 2026 season, will accept entries from elementary students across Japan from July 1 to September 30, 2026. The finals will take place in February 2027, where Japan's top elementary school programmer will be determined.

◎ Initiatives for 2026:

| Supporting Participant Growth The contest aims to provide a platform for learning and challenge beyond just submission. This year, the organizers will enhance support materials and offer workshops on presentation techniques. Through this challenge, students are encouraged to not only master technical skills but also to 'think for themselves, communicate, and persevere.'

| New Prefectural Qualifiers Building on existing regional partnerships, some events will now be designated as 'Prefectural Qualifiers.' Winners will advance as 'prefectural representatives' to one of the six area qualifiers held nationwide.

| Judging Policy in the Age of Generative AI The organizers are placing greater emphasis on the process and agency behind a project. Instead of banning or mandating generative AI, the contest will adopt a flexible approach: - Tracking the use of generative AI and specific services by applicants. - Confirming the project creation process and unique student efforts. - Revising specific judging criteria.

The core values established in 2018—'VISION' (dreams and worldview), 'PRODUCT' (creative ideas and embodiment), and 'PRESENTATION' (posture of sharing ideas)—remain critical in the age of generative AI.
