What is the Tombow 1129 Design Competition?
Tombow Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 2-2-9 Koseicho, Kita-ku, Okayama City; President: Tatsuya Fujiwara), a manufacturer and seller of school uniforms and sportswear, holds a design competition for school uniforms and sportswear to celebrate 'Good Clothes Day' on November 29, which is registered with the Japan Anniversary Association. The competition's goal is to provide students with the opportunity to exercise their fresh imaginative skills.
Every year, we receive applications from junior and senior high school students nationwide. For the Grand Prize winner, we present a finished garment created from their idea using actual school uniform fabrics and parts, brought to life with Tombow's sewing techniques.
Starting this fiscal year, we have decided to resume the awards ceremony, which had been suspended since the COVID-19 pandemic. As a uniform manufacturer, we made this decision out of a strong desire to directly hear the passion and stories students put into their works and to praise their efforts in person.
The ceremony is planned to be a place where students can create lifelong memories, featuring displays of award-winning works and critiques by judges.
Furthermore, as with previous years, we will collaborate with Tombow Pencil Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Tokyo), a stationery manufacturer that shares our name. With a common wish to 'make school life even more wonderful,' we have established the 'Tombow Pencil Award' as a sponsored corporate prize. They are providing strong backup, including their products as additional prizes.
